Embedded within the ErgoAnalyst training page is a generic 10 minute training video that covers all of the principles associated with manual task risk management, including:

• what is participative ergonomics and why it works
• the REAL cause of musculoskeletal injuries
• the five injury risk factors
• how to effectively assess the risk of injury
• how to develop effective controls

This training video is designed to be:

• used to train workers on the principles of manual task risk management so they can be involved in the participative ergonomics process  
• viewed by managers and supervisors so they understand and support the 'ErgoAnalyst - Participative Ergonomics' process.

Note: This training video is VERY different to traditional 'manual handling training' that focuses on the technique adopted by workers ... which does NOT work!

Search the database

The ErgoAnalyst database of task can be used to:

• search for existing solutions to similar tasks
• identify the highest risk tasks within a business
• determine what tasks pose the greatest risk of injury for specific body regions (e.g. the lower back)
• list all tasks belonging to an individual assessor or group of assessors
• find the highest priority tasks
• list tasks scheduled for control within a particular work area
• find tasks identified over particular time periods
• and more

Identify, prioritise and document all your manual tasks in one place

The ErgoAnalyst identification page enables a full risk register of all manual tasks to be documented and centralised in a single location. These tasks can also:

• be prioritised according to the level of risk or the urgency of control measures
• be tagged and sorted to identify the dates that each task was identified, assessed, controlled and reviewed
• have pictures, videos or documents of any kind attached to each task
• include detailed descriptions of how the task is performed, the risk factors involved, the equipment used and the environmental conditions associated with each task
• be printed as a sortable report, showing the priority level and dates that the task was identified, assessed, controlled and reviewed
• have information cut and pasted from other documents

Note: Videos and/or pictures of the task being performed both before and after the control can be attached to each task. 

Assess using comprehensive and engaging assessment tools

The ErgoAnalyst assessment page is designed to be simple to use and easy to understand.

Each of the injury risk factors (exertion, exposure, posture, movement patterns and environment) for each body region are easily assessed using a 'click and select' process. ErgoAnalyst then calculates and displays both the acute and cumulative risk of injury in real time from the interactions of these various risk factors. This removes the tendency for the injury risk from individual risk factors to be over accentuated. For example, awkward postures are unlikely to pose a high risk of injury unless those postures are held for prolonged periods of time - ErgoAnalyst has been designed to do all these calculations for you.

While the algorithm that calculates the acute and cumulative risk of musculoskeletal injury is based on extensive research, it is the simple visual representation of the risk in ErgoAnalyst that is essential to actively engage workers so they understand the risks and focus on controls that specifically target the causes of those risks.

Implement only the most effective controls

The control page of ErgoAnalyst enables you to:

• develop control measures that specifically address factors that will have the greatest ability to reduce the risk of injury
• document if the task can be eliminated (if so how ... if not why) for compliance records with legislators
• describe and quantify the design and administrative control details associated with each proposed control
• assess as many proposed control options as you want before you spend time or money implementing them to ensure that they will significantly reduce the risk of injury and are cost effective
• compare; (1) the various injury risk factors for each body region, (2) the overall acute and cumulative body risk profile and (3) the graphical risk comparison of the acute and cumulative risk, both before and after controls have been implemented
• develop and document action plans to ensure accountability, set timelines and monitor progress during implementation
• reassess controls once they have been implemented to ensure risks are being reduced by as much or more than was calculated when the control was proposed

Using ErgoAnalyst, each task is quickly assessed three times: (1) as it was, (2) as it should be with a proposed control and, (3) as it is now with the control in place. This provides a complete history of the injury risk associated with the task and the progress of controls proposed or implemented for future reference.

Generate and print detailed reports

ErgoAnalyst enables you to generate reports for both the task list and for an individual task.

The report for the task list:

• includes full timelines of the dates each task was identified, assessed, controlled and reviewed
• identifies priority levels for each task
• can be sorted to include only tasks that meet specific search criteria (for example tasks for a specific work area or level of risk)

The ErgoAnalyst task report includes:

• task descriptions and details (dates the task was identified, assessed and controlled, task assessors etc)
• full assessments including visual display in body map and graphical analysis formats
• full control details for each control selected for inclusion in the report
• calculated percentage acute and cumulative risk reductions for each body region and for each control
• all attached pictures are resized and included in the report
• all attached documents and videos are also included in the report as active links back to the ErgoAnalyst database. This means supporting information can be accessed directly from the secure PDF report and does not require ErgoAnalyst access to be viewed (i.e. great for managers who can be emailed the report without having to have access to ErgoAnalyst)
